Covid and incoming/current college students

Maura Hendrixson who is as a student athlete at Drexel on the basketball team talks about how covid is affecting not current college students, but also incoming students as well. “Being told that I cannot access the gym and weight room on Drexel’s campus is such an odd feeling. I am unable to return to campus until it opens up again, which is uncertain with a timeline of when that will happen. I am now living at home which is in Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania just about 45 minutes from Drexel’s campus. Covid is also affecting incoming college students because they could possibly have their first semester of college online which would be difficult to adjust to. This also affects current college students because by campuses being shut down they are forced to go home or live somewhere else so it could be hard for them to return to campus, for example if they are a foreign student and they are unable to fly into the country during this time. This can cause students to take a semester off school if they don’t want to go back yet or if they don’t want to spend the money for just online schooling because it will take away the experience of learning in class which some students really want. Still not being sure of when we will return to campus and details of how the school year is going to go is really hard. I don’t want my junior year to consist of virtual classes, but that might just be what will happen.”
